The Opener – Online Series

Reading time: 2 – 2 minutes
Last month my teacher and friend came up with an idea of having a video series targeted towards Muslim between the ages of eighteen and twenty five (give or take a few years) that addresses the issues and aspects of pop culture and Islam.
We decided to move with the Idea and came out with a series called “The Opener”. It wasn’t exactly what we were aiming for but the important thing was that we got started. As sensei would tell me, “It don’t gotta be beautiful, It just has to get rolling.”
While editing the series we moved forward with the website, name, and design. We came up with: reelopener.com
Yesterday we completed editing the series, and premiered the series on the website. Here is the premiere episode:
Project Lessons:
- If you have an idea, move with it. It doesn’t have to be beautiful…it just has to get going.
- Delegating tasks, and working with a team is key to doing great things. What one person accomplishes will never compare to what five people accomplish in unison.
- Learning the keyboard functions for your editing program will speed up the editing process significantly.
- If you filmed with multiple camera angles, use an editing program that supports multicam editing simultaneously. You will save a LOT of time.
