About Albaraa
My name is Belal Khan. I go by the penname “AlBaraa” named after a companion of the prophet Muhammad (sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam - may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): AlBaraa ibn Malik. I’m the guy behind Leechon Films. Let me take a moment to give you a glimpse of who I am.
I’m a 22 year old Muslim, Indian-born American living in New Jersey. I am a full time student at Montclair State University, studying Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I’m also a full-time filmmaker and mostly produce promotional videos and commercials for clients. All in all, I have a lot of fun doing what I do.

About Shirien
“We need more Muslims in the media!” We’ve all heard this coming from the Arab uncle shaking his finger in the masjid. To that uncle, I say “Thanks for the tough love…You’ve officially inspired ONE person to go into the media… Me.”
The more I thought about it, the more I realized what power we Muslims have the potential to have if we go into the media.

I’m Mass Comm. student concentrating in Public Relations. I’m 20 years old and I go to Louisiana State University.

Things I’m involved in:
- The Daily Reveille - I write columns about Islam and have seen both the fruits of my efforts (by the Will of Allah) and I’ve also seen a lot of resistance and hate from people. Alhamdulillah, the good outweighs the bad. I enjoy giving dawah and have decided to use the medium of my school Newspaper “The Reveille” for that purpose.
- LeechonFilms.com - I’ll be focusing my posts on areas of media and public relations.
- Ummah Films Community Forums - A Muslim Filmmakers forum where filmmakers and non-filmmakers can come and interact with each other as well as keep up with Ummah Films activities. I’m a moderator there.
Some of my interests include:
- Documentaries - I enjoy watching documentaries, mainly because of the sense of reality that they portray. Some of my favorites include; Burden of Innocence, Road to Guantanamo, and The Persuaders.
- Photo & Video - I like photography and video. I’m not a professional, but I aspire to be one.
I hope to one day change the image of Islam on a large scale particularly here in the West before Allah decides to take my soul, insha’Allah.
I look forward to spreading anything beneficial for other Muslims to learn from. And I also look forward to learning from you all. Barak Allahu feekom.

- LeechonFilms.com – I will be running things behind the scenes such as operations.
- Big Brothers of Darul Islah - We are starting off as a small circle of people, but soon inshallah (God-willing) we’ll be a full blown network of older youth bringing benefit to the local community.
My Interests Include:

About CarpeDiem
My name is Randa Saleh. My online “stage name” is CarpeDiem which is the Latin phrase for “seize the day.” This theme was expressed in the film Dead Poets Society and some poetry. It’s a principle I highly value
I am currently majoring in English with a minor in film. I go to Montclair State University and am 20 years old.

Some things I am involved in include:
- LeechonFilms.com
- Ummah Films Community Forums
- The Muslim Students Association
Some of my interests are:
- Reading - I can’t choose a favorite book because they’re like children, but right now I’m going through a Jane Austen phase. Some books that have had a lasting impression are, The Red Tent, Mansfield Park, One Hundred Years of Solitude, and more. I absolutely adore reading and everything that it encompasses.
- Film - Watching and dissecting films is an addiction of mine. I especially like thought-proving and creatively orchestrated films that create dialogue. I can’t choose a favorite film either for the above reason, however some that I have watched again and again include Big Fish, Fight Club, Se7en, El Laberinto del Fauno, Le Battement d’ailes du papillon, and a couple others. I soon hope to dabble in filmmaking.
- Politics - With the presidential elections approaching, the political atmosphere in the U.S. is kicking into full gear. Although I am not affiliated with any political party, it’s always interesting to watch and participate in debates over hot button issues.
- Nutrition - If I could be in college forever and not have to worry about time, I would also major in Nutrition and Food Sciences (and a couple other fields of study). Learning about the how the human body reacts to foods and the amazing biological and chemical functions that take place within it gets me excited. Unfortunately, I have to be satisfied with reading health and nutrition magazines.
Other interests worth mentioning are, learning about Islam, ice skating, baking chocolate chip cookies, enjoying time with my family and friends, hiking, laughing and making people laugh, participating in numerous campus organizations, and I can go on forever.
Although this cannot possibly sum up who I am, I hope that I have somehow introduced myself and will be of some benefit.
